Ballade Intime: Kesso-Line Saulnier
Intimate Ballad tells the story of an intimate and erotic relationship between two women. This piece features three large strips of embroidery that are divided up into smaller scenes recalling specific moments of interaction. The general absence of settings and objects leaves more room for these interactions. The base fabric is unvarying in order to situate the two women at specific points in the narrative: the first strip (10 m by 22 cm) is embroidered on an indigo background and shows scenes in Montreal. The other two strips (5 m by 22 cm and 3.48 m by 22 cm) depict scenes in various cities of France: Paris is represented by pink fabric, St. Malo by yellow fabric, Dinan by red fabric and Rennes by indigo fabric. Because Intimate Ballad is autobiographical, the purpose of this piece is to provide my personal point of view on intimate interactions between two women.
