BLACK BOX
Règne artificiel : ROSALIE D. GAGNÉ

Règne Artificiel II is composed of a network of illuminated inflatable cells. They create an immersive environment that is animated by their slow expansion and contraction motion- one that evokes breath. When a visitor penetrates “their” space, the cells react with a change in intensity of luminosity and rhythm or level of movement.

The structures themselves mirrors organic plant material in form but are constructed with transparent plastic sheet and animated mechanically. With these material contradictions, Règne Artificiel II attempts to harmonize the artificial world with natural processes that both seduces and repels with its immersive and uncanny quality.
