Jeff Scheible is a Banting Postdoctoral Fellow in the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. He is working on a book manuscript that reconsiders the history of film theory through the lens of discourses on the cinematic technique depth of field. He received a PhD in Film and Media Studies from UC Santa Barbara in 2011. He is a former managing editor of Camera Obscura and a founding editor of Media Fields Journal.

Boursier postdoctoral Banting à l’École de cinéma Mel-Hoppenheim, Jeff Scheible a obtenu en 2011 un doctorat en études cinématographiques et médiatiques de l’Université de Californie à Santa Barbara. Il écrit actuellement un ouvrage dans lequel il reconsidère l’histoire de la filmologie à la lumière du discours sous-tendant cette technique cinématographique qu’est la profondeur de champ. Auparavant, il a dirigé la rédaction de la revue Camera Obscura et celle du Media Fields Journal, publication qu’il a d’ailleurs fondée.
