Biography

Originally from BC, Karilee Fuglem stayed in Montreal after completing an MFA at Concordia in 1992. Informed by the subtleties of nonverbal communication that underscore life in a bilingual city, her work speaks a subterranean language of light, movement and visceral sensation.

In 2010 she had solo exhibitions at Two Rivers Gallery, Prince George, BC and Rodman Hall Gallery, St Catherines, Ontario. Other recent projects include the Koffler Gallery, Toronto (2008), Montreal's Darling Foundry (2006) and Oakville Galleries, Ontario (2003). Her work has been seen in group exhibitions across Canada, notably the Montreal Biennale (2011, 1998) as well as the National Gallery of Canada (2007), The Musée National des beaux-arts du Québec (2010, 2004) and the Musée d'art contemporain de Montreal (1997), who also have her work in their collections. In 2010 she was a finalist for the Prix Louis-Comtois. She is represented by Pierre-François Ouellette art contemporain, Montreal and Leo Kamen Gallery, Toronto.
