The 2010 Design & Computation Arts Student Exhibition reflects the evolving nature of design as a cross-disciplinary field of research and practice through a series of community-oriented programs and events.  Titled “Arrivals and Departures,” this end of year exhibition is entirely produced and curated by students in the BFA in Design program for the purpose of connecting our emerging pool of talent to new audiences.  The selected works demonstrate intensive development and innovative practices that incorporate industrial, graphic, interactive, and theoretical design, while exploring contemporary issues in the field.  Themes of sustainability, social responsibility, and ethical production are common currents in the show, highlighting Concordia University’s unique and unparalleled position as a leader in conceptual and environmental design.

“Arrivals and Departures” is the umbrella exhibition that brings together artists from the three programs within the Design and Computation Arts Department and will take place in Concordia’s FOFA Gallery.  The exhibition then continues throughout the EV facilities networking together the three study strands with specific sites and curatorial statements:

Design Art (DART):  Arrivals and Departures
Computation Arts (CART): Landing Sites  
Graduate Certificate Program in Design : ASSEMBL*

Coinciding with Portes Ouvertes Design Montréal on May 1-2, 2010, this network of presentations will lead visitors through not only the broad spectrum of works  but their sites of production. Scheduled activities include an invited speakers series, a mini-colloquium and a graduating student Pecha Kucha.
