Biography

Tagny Duff is an interdisciplinary media artist working across video, performance, bioart, net art and installation. Duff's current work explores the murky terrain of life, liveliness and what is perceived as live in the post-biological era. By working hands-on with biotechnology and scientific techniques that are used in scientific laboratory practices to manipulate life, Duff generates uncanny images, objects and experiences that introduce viewers to visceral encounters. The works explore (and provoke) a reflection on the changing status and scale of bodies as they migrate across digital and biological platforms. Recent projects include Cryobook Archives (2010) exhibited at the Science Gallery, Dublin Ireland as part of Visceral (2011), Tissue Culture Point of View (2008) exhibited at the Perth Institute for Contemporary Art, Australia (2008) and The Living Viral Tattoos (2008), selected for the International Symposium of Electronic Art (2009). Duff is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies and the director of Fluxmedia Research-Creation Network.

Biographie
